How much does it cost to plaster a room UK?
Skimming a standard room costs £300-£600. If the walls need boarding first (dry lining), expect £500-£900 per room. A full house skim for a 3-bed property costs £2,000-£4,000.
How long does plastering take to dry?
Plaster takes 2-3 days to dry enough to paint in summer, up to a week in winter. Do not paint wet plaster. When fully dry, plaster changes from dark to light pink. Use a mist coat (diluted emulsion) as the first coat.
Should I plaster or dry line?
Wet plastering gives a smoother, more durable finish but takes longer to dry. Dry lining (plasterboard) is faster and adds insulation but walls are slightly thicker. For older properties, wet plastering is usually preferred.
